I have a MotoRazr V3 series phone.
I got it some weeks ago from a friend. I found when I opened it up, the keyboard lit up instantly, but it was difficult to get the main display lit. I kept pressing the key indicated in the manual for lighting the display, but it always took a long time to light up. Moreover on each ocasion when I opened the phone and got the display lighting, I was asked for the Pin Number. And sometimes nothing happened unless I removed the battery and re-inserted it. More recently it became even more difficult to get the display lit. And now it will not light up at all. What could be wrong? Do I need a new battery? Or is it more serious?
Is is possible to fix any of these myself. I am good with technical things usually. Am in Africa and away from any place likely to have skilled technician for Motorola
I have dismantled the phone, following repair instructions which i found on internet. I find that the flexcable irunning through the hinge is damaged and needs to be replaced. Can this be done? What part do I need to order?
The part that is damaged
more or less the flex cable is just that the flex cable,
the thing about it is are you sure you have a V3re???....
post your firmware and bootloader version
I'm pretty sure the model is the RazrV3c. It is black in colour. I have looked at various versions on the internet and it seems to be this one. I cannot find any model number on the phone itself, the SE and IMEI numbers but not the model.
What do you mean by firmware and bootloader version? Sorry for my ignorance. I have it completely dismanted but I can see that the flex which goes unde the hinge is broken.
The color has nothing to do with it, if its a V3c then this would'nt necessirly be the section to be posting in, this is the GSM section, a V3c is a CDMA baed phone, also this section is for V3re's so thats a double whammy on your part.
Yes the phone uses a sim card. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I take it I should post it in the CDMA forum. Really appreciated your help on this.
I'm not sure if this is the best way to identify a GSM Razr, but...
V3 = Metal battery door + White sticker under battery
V3i/V3t = Mem. card slot + Polished front w/ glowing Moto logo
V3xx = Mem. card slot + Polished front w/o glowing Moto logo
V3x = Mem. card slot + Camera Flash
V3r/V3re = Plastic battery cover + Black sticker under battery
Regarding the V3 vs V3r/re, I'm not sure if the part regarding the sticker under the battery is completely correct, but between the 5 that I have all the V3s have white stickers while the V3re has a black sticker. Same goes with the battery covers: V3's have metal, while V3re has plastic. They aren't interchangeable with one another.
This all assumes that the phone is completely stock hardware wise, and the cases haven't been swapped with another version's. Even then, I have no idea on how to discern a V3r and a V3re without the bootloader/firmware.
