I have just finished modding my moto v3re, with the iPhone MP, changing the outside display image, wallpaper, etc... I was very happy with my new skin and everything else, but then i realized that i had no contacts on my phone (forgot that when you change MPs your contacts are erased ). And of course i made a BackUp of my phone .
My question is....
Is there a way to get my contacts from my phone's BackUp?
flash&backup will save contact info for some models, unfortunately i dont think v3re is one of them. your best option would be to make a backup with all the mods, then flash the original backup which contains your contacts. save them to SIM and flash the modded backup back to the phone.
you will lose any special info by copying to SIM card, but all the numbers will be safe.
alternatively you could share contact info thru Bluetooth or Txt, but im not sure if all info will be transferred this way either
Plus, you can try with motorola phone tools. Make a recovery file of your contact list, then reflash with iPhone MP backup, then restore your contacts to your phone. Use MPT v. 4 or higher.
oooooh weeell, i really wanted to skip all that process but if theres no other way.
What I had in mind was to, lets say, extract only my contacts from BackUp, not actually flashing to BackUp, BackUp my contacts with MPT, theeeen going back to MPs BackUp. (im going 2 have the word BackUp in my mind all day)
Yes. so far it has never been possible to parse the cg2 and extract the contacts, so you can include them into the new cg2 you are using. Somehow it just never worked. Many have tried , but we just could not get the Flex back together after parsing. You can get to the contacts, in the Backup, but there is no program which can read the stud you will find. And there is no program which can then put it back together. Sorry
MPT v.4 has the utility of making backups of your contact list. It creates a .csv file and then you can select "restore security backup", select the file and copy all (in fact restore all) contacts. I use it all the time, without the outlook app. Trust me on that! If byzlibear has the cd that comes with his phone, it's easy to upgrade (needs patience, because the upgrade files are big), but this is the way I've been restoring all my contacts the last 3 years! (without using outlook)
Good to know.
I stopped using MPT ages ago. Except for the contacts, I found no real use for it. Other programs had more and easier features.
And contacts I store to Sim.
But for those with extended contact list, or Details to all contacts, this is good to know.
Btw. The Motorolas in some countrys ( like Portugal), come without any MPT version. It is then always an extra you will have to buy.
