Help Ringer volume dead while charging

I'll start with the error and move on with the troubles I've been experiencing since. My 4 year old wanted to be nice and decided to charge my phone thru the usb port on a radio emitter/car cradle for my wife's IPhone. Wifey noticed that the usb port is not functional anymore but that is a 15$ POS anyways. Where my phone(a V3re 06)is concerned is that since the volume of the ringer on incoming calls while charging completely disappeared. I also noticed Midway doesn't want to connect with the phone anymore (does recognize the port but fails when installing JAD) while I still can access with P2Kcommander(although scrambled warning message appears at startup prog seems totally functional)and Flash&Backup3(flashed phone with backup to see if that would correct things).
I have since updated MSU to run in background of P2KCom as a precautionary mesure with no change.
I've flashed my backup with no change.
Tried changing ringer setting to vibe&ring only to have it vibrate on an incoming call.
I was going to attack the volume on my Bluetooth ear piece this week and RTFMing seem editing with apprehension and unless some ModGod intervenes I will probably have to confront doing this.
Kinda noobish to modding but have quickly learnt the basics and am at ease with most progs. In overkill installed on WinXP I have Flash&Backup M-Explorer P2KCommander P2KTools3 XVI32 MSU MPT MIDway_2_8 and JADgen.
This wetware hopes the cause resides in the firmware and not the hardware.
Thank you for any nudge in the right direction.

dont take my word for it, but since flashing the backup did not resolve this i would say it is most likely hardware problem. sorry M8

maybe try flashing a stock MP from the downloads section to double-test

Thx for the quick response Zedbra, I'll definitely give a stock MP a go. Been googling/reading some more(been at it for more than 48hrs)and notice that many peeps got this problem but from all the posts out there many are left unanswered. Z,I remember that we had to put phone in silent setting before tweaking phone(deleting files)with P2KCommander; is it possible that some part of the firmware could be tweaked to regain? What would be the solution in that case? I did read one post, dont ask where since I read too many, that mentioned the firmware could be thinking that the plug was a speaker...if that makes any sense to you.
Hey Z, could I use this MP with Flash&Backup3, it does sound promissing (ModMyMobile Forums - Downloads - R3442A unlocked) since the description of this one (ModMyMobile Forums - Downloads - V3re r3442A Stock MP) makes me feel iffy. Having read the name Danation across my readings so many times it should be a brand or at least a TM, should I just use one of those instead?
Btw, my carrier is Fido(Rogers), use XPpro and the phone is a V3re.
Even if I think I know the answer to this one already,I'll ask: anyone in the neighborhood specialized in hardware solutions?

V3re goes while charging to Mute or Silent by default. All V3 do. Set in the Style " Silent", the ringer to your liking again, under Ringstyles.

Please do not kiss, or lick, the Monitor.

Mine would "out of the box" switch to LOUD mode not SILENT. But you're right, I can just change my settings in SILENT mode to bypass that part of the problem. Left is my inability to download games to my phone using MIDway, any ideas?

I was wrong, you can't change the settings of SILENT mode. I also noticed that if my Bluetooth is activated the ringer actually works on the charge. Am I giving myself false hope thinking that it could be just a corrupt root seem?
As for flashing a stock MP, which one of the archived M3 ones should be best to try out considering I'll be remodding it with Fido(Rogers) as a carrier?

News flash; I don't know what I did but, between toying around with the volume in the java games and reinstalling MIDway that now does connect, the phone does ring when connected to PC but still same as before when plugged to wall or car jacks...wish I knew what I did right!
It does seem to me that some part of the deep set firmware is corrupted...does anyone know where this is leading and what should I do next? I'm gonna try to take out the Bluetooths associated with the phone to see if that would help...keep u posted soon.
