V3RE chinese language pack difficulty

Hi,

I have some diffculty while using chinese LP for my v3re.

I use jklong03's fantastic MP from here: http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68042

and chinese LP from here:

The flashing process goes very smooth. But I met a strange problem after I updated my cellphone:

If I use Chinese (settings->intial settings->language), I can not access my phone book. The phone is just dead, every time when I try to enter the phone book. Other functions are all ok though.

If I use English, then everthing is fine. I can even input chinese in phone book and text message.

I also tried another firmware:

and another language file I found on web (sorry I fogot the link).
It has exactly same problem.

I comparied string IDs in english and chinese LP, using language pack editor in SHXCodec. Seems no problem. The english and chinese strings are matched pretty well.

I don't know what to do next to solve my problem.

Does anyone experience similar problem? Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

My chinese is very bad, as in, I don't even know what the symbols are. Would any of you two let us also into the secret how it was solved in English?

Of course. I'll explain to you guys at best as I can. But since this is a Chinese specific fix, I really don't know it is useful or not for English speakers.

Actually, the solution is pretty simple:
1. install seem editor on your PC. I use p2ktoolsvs 3.0.7.759, and seemplayer 2.91. (acutualy, p2ktoolsvs alone is enough for the fix. Seemplayer just gives me more knowledge about values in seem file)
2. download 0032_0001.SEEM from your cell phone, and loaded into you seem editor
3. modify value at offset 3Fh to F5h (original value on my cell phone is 50h)
4. save the seem file and upload to your cell phone
5. reboot your cell phone.
6. Done!!!

For step3, the original artical sugestted 2 possible values: F5h and 55h. F5h works for me, and I never tried 55h.

My best guess, based on help file in seemplayer, is that this byte controls
how items in address book are sorted. And chinese address book need its own special sorting mode: sort by PinYin.

Hi there! I am having the same problem as Garnet had. I am in the seem editor of p2ktoolsvs with 0032_0001.SEEM open. (The seemplayer I downloaded is in Spanish, and I don't know how to use it). I just don't know where to edit. Could someone explain to me the quoted sentence in a language that someone inexperienced like me can understand?

Find the offset 3F and direct hex edit its value to be F5.

I wished I read your post earlier. I spent a lot of time to solve the problem yesterday: I finally found an English version of seemplayer 2.91 and it then became very easy. I wish I remembered the URL, but I found it by googling "English seemplayer2.91".
