Recently, I've been trying to get pics from my phone (Moto RAZR V3m) to my pc via USB connection, but I just can't seem to get P2k tools to connect to my phone. I've been following the directions on the guide here but still haven't been able to make a connection.
I DL'd the software on the guide, reinstalled the drivers (I had drivers from a previous attempt) making sure to redirect to the newly DL'd drivers, unplugged/replugged the phone, fired up P2k tools, waited for the "mode change"... nothing happened. So, I went and read the "***" at the bottom of the guide that said to install RSD Lite 2.5. I found and installed RSD Lite 4.6 (which seems to be the latest build). The phone connects with RSD Lite so far as to tell me some basic info about the phone. I then let the PC install "hotfixes" (some 13 of them). Then after a fresh reboot, reconnected the phone via USB (got the PC beeps telling me the phone is connected to the USB port) and fired up P2k again. And again after waiting I'm still getting a red dot and showing "disconnected" in the status bar. Also restarting the phone or otherwise disconnecting the usb cable will close the P2k tools software and hasn't worked for me.
So here's what HAS worked for me
Moto's Phone tools (backs up the phone and syncs with outlook)
RSD CDMA General 5.2.9 (From a previous attempt. I've managed to read and back up all the default phone settings/files through the phone provisioning utility.
RSD Lite 4.6 as mentioned above (i'm guessing this is a lite version of RSD General)
The various P2k drivers I've DL'd seem to function properly.
What has NOT worked
P2k Tools 0.8.6 (as mentioned above)
P2k Commander 3.3.0 beta (shows files on my PC, but never shows the phone as being connected.)
LeaderGL Flex Editor 10.6 (Apparently doesn't work with CDMA phones?)
According to the other comment at the bottom of the guide, my cable might be the issue, but I'm hoping maybe someone else could offer a suggestion before I spend more money. I went out and bought a micro-sd card after reading on the verizon forums and verifying with a local verizon rep, that I had to x-fer the files to the card, then I could access the files via USB, but alas this was untrue. So it seems I can either fight with trying to unlock the USB function, or say "screw it" and buy a card reader for my pc.
Any constructive feedback would be appreciated. If I've missed some forum post in my search here please reply with a link. I've read a lot of posts questioning PC specs, so I've listed mine below (the one's I've deemed relevant anyhow). Thanks in Advance.
PC specs: Home-built
Abit NF7 v2
AMD Athlon XP (barton) 2500+ (OC'd to 3200)
1GB PC3200 (2x512MB in dual-channel) DDR @ 200 Mhz
Turbo-Media PS2 Multimedia keyboard
Logitech MX700 cordless USB mouse
XP Pro sp3 (fully updated)
Firefox 3.6.6 (default browser)
IE 7 (don't think I can go back to v6 in sp3, but I rarely if ever use it anymore)
no other USB devices were connected at the time of this writing.
Probably could use a reformat by now
Bump.. Does anyone mod the V3m anymore?
Well, I'm not sure if anyone's listening, but I thought I'd post about some headway I've made. I found a tutorial on youtube that eventually led me to some of the functionality I wanted.

Firstly, ditch your other driver-packs. The drivers you can get directly from Motos' website are probably more up to date than you'll find elsewhere. The users comments on the tutorial have a link to DL a software updater, but even his updated link is outdated now. However, if you go to Motos' service site, you'll find a troubleshooter that will install updated drivers and software for your phone all in one stop (provided you have a working USB cable.) But, don't close that page just yet...
Moto's troubleshooter keeps your phone in a state that you'll need to do the next step, which is the seem edit. I did some searching and found a clean P2k Seem. I'm not sure why, but the original seem settings for my bluetooth and usb transfers were already enabled, so I've left them at their current settings. Your settings may vary.
Tip: You'll need to restart your phone for the new settings to take effect. You'll also need to restart the Moto troubleshooter AND P2k Seem to do any further seem editing after restarting your phone.
After some more reading I found out that MPT 5 doesn't work well with CDMA phones (like my V3m), so I found and installed version 4. It's not perfect, but it's doing more than MPT 5 for now. At first it wasn't recognizing my phone, so I had to do a manual setup. Which was fine untill I realized my V3m wasn't listed. So, I told MPT that I was using a V3c instead and BINGO, I now have access to all the media on my phone. Pix, flix, tones, all of it. And, Yes, I'm 100% sure it's a V3m. The only problem now is that I still can't upload any media to my phone.
Well, guess what.. I'm about to ditch MPT altogether. As I'm writing this I just realized I can run P2k Commander as long as I'm connected with the Moto Troubleshooter. It's giving me full access to all the files on the system (uploading AND downloading). This is great! This kind of access can be dangerous though, so be VERY careful what files you mess with.
This post ended up being more of a guide than a progress report. So i'll break it down for you starting from square one..
First, DL and install Moto's software troubleshooter which will also install the drivers you need. Don't forget to leave it running in the background during the rest of the process.
Next DL and run P2k Seem to unlock your USB file transfers (where needed). The tutorial has instructions for this.
Last DL and run P2k Commander for all your file transfer needs. Alternatively you could use MPT 4 to sync with outlook, backup contacts, etc.
If you still can't get it running, you may need some USB drivers or even a different USB cable. Also check for windows updates. And consider switching to Firefox if you're still running IE.
HAPPY MODDING!!!!
