Unlock Verizon Ringtone capability
Hi. I have a Krazr K1m from Verizon. Verizon apparently locks out the ability to use Motorola Phone Tools to transfer ringtones and Wallpaper from my pc. Could you direct me or explain what I need and how to do it.
Thanks,
Dan

If you look at the top of this forum, there is an announcement about guides for these phones. At the bottom of that announcement is this:
If you just want your verizon phone to connect to Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) for ringtones and wallpaper, here's how to make it work:
First follow the Getting connected to your PC guide and install MPT. In order to get MPT to recognize your phone, do this seem edit first:
Quote:
seem 2742 Offset 6A Bit 0 check to enable
If it still won't connect, then do this one as well
Quote:
Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes (h) 22, Offset 0006 check the boxes for bits 0-2-3-6 and uncheck the boxes for Bits 1-4-5-7
Then it'll connect!

And I did exactly that tonight, and it works flawlessly.
I did have to do both seem edits to get it to work.
By the way, it was on a Verizon V3m razr.
Cake.
Thanks again to the guys for helping out.

Still problems transferring
I did the seams listed and now the phone is recognized properly by the MPT but when I try to transfer a mp3 file to the phone it only seems to want to transfer it to a directory called audio on the phone. I am not sure if that is where it should go. I would have thought it should go to the ringtone directory, but if I try and transfer it to the ringtone directory it says it is transferring it but it always ends up in the audio directory. Does the file have to be something other than mp3 or is there some procedure I need to do to see the ringtone on my phone. I cannot find it anywhere.

Transferring problem
I have a My Sounds, My Ringtones, My Music and VCast music and it is not in any of them. If I look at the directory tree for the mobile phone there are the following directories:
audio
mixedmedia
mmc(removable)
picture
ringtone
video
vst
The mission.mp3 file is in the audio directory

Ringtone extensions
I was thinking of trying to transfer ringtones of a different format. I am thinking that maybe the Krazr sorts the audio depending upon the file extension. What would be the common extensions to try?

Well, .mid and .mp3 are the main ones. You might want to try WMA, since verizon's media player plays those

Some help...
Hey guys - I'm new to the forum, and, frankly, not overly familiar with a lot of this stuff.
I purchased the MPT software because a friend of mine had it, and it seemed a heck of a lot cheaper than buying every last thing from VZW - however, once installed, I realized that I couldn't transfer pics and tones like I thought I could. So I'm reading this blog, and I'm seeing the "seam/seem" edits, but I have no idea what to do with that information. Is there by chance a "dummy's guide" to making this work, or anyone out there kind enough to walk a newbie through it? Thanks in advance!!
