Razr v3m Fatal error during install

I have seen several threads on recieving fatal error on install for different phones.

Not being sure which phone is acting like mine.

I have a v3m. But I do not have a memory card in it. I have about 12 different entries in my device manager under the usb entry. There is only a usb mouse and hard drive connected. I have added a Motorola USB modem, no problem. But when I try to add the phone, connecting it several different ways, it get to sorry a Fatal error has occurred. In the device manger under usb , the USB Mass storage device has a yellow ! next to it. Surely there is a way to connect this phone to my Win XP SP3 machine without reinstalling the operating system. Oh and the phone acts the same way trying to install to Vista.

Thanks for who ever can help

I did download a zip file Drivertool.zip that extracts to Drivertool.exe

It removed Old *.inf files, then installs new ones. I ran it, it still has fatal error

    From what I found:

    Here is the result:
    1. disconnect the phone,
    2. uninstall drivers with the "\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola Shared\MotPCSDrivers\Motorola Driver Installer.exe",

There was not a "Driver Installer: here but another executable named. "usblan_ifconfig.exe"

There was a file under Win/System 32 "3. delete the wdfcoinstaller01005.dll at the \Windows\System32" That I can delete. Will the exe file reload it?

Let me get to the update page

I tried the first step, downloaded new driver from Motorola, cleaned using the instalation exe, found the file in Win/Sys 32 already deleted, the reinstalled the software.

    Fatal error again.

I started the next string now to see what we can do here. I am downloading drivers from MPT.

When I tried the second step, after downloading drivers from MPT, waited till fatal error, updated driver from device manager, told it to look in Win/Sys 32 for the driver. It was not found. Told it to look in MPT folder, not found. Any other ideas?

OK it works. I went to the next step, renamed the wdf01000.sys to **.bak. Connected the phone and it loaded just fine.

    Thanks for your help.

    Roger

Now I can see what else I can do with this thing.!

I might have spoke too soon. Motorola phone tools does not connect to my phone now. Do you have a good thread for this? I am going to reboot and come back

    Thanks

Rebooted, started MPT and the phone is stuc "initializing" Please wait.

but in my opinion i don't like MPT i have but never use it.

I'd recommend using p2k commander to transfer files

Verizon is the carrier. I downloaded P2K, installed it. It locks up as soon as the phone is connected. Sync cell doesn't work and BitPim doesn't recognize my phone. I am getting close I think.

To get connected to p2k commander you'll need to be running either rsd lite or msu first once they reconize your phone open up p2k commander

I was able to connect to SyncCell to get my calendar to my phone. I would still like to be able to use MPT as SyncCell is on a trial basis, will have to pay for it in 3 days.
