n00b help w/ Moto Q s/w

I cant send picture messages using my Alltel Q.
I read that a firmware update will correct this. I went to the alltel store for the upgrade, they didnt know what the hell they were doing. They sent me home w/ a loaner cable and said to use moto's website.

I plug it up run it, it finds the Q then says its upto date.

Please link me to the right program and firmware file download to update this damn thing.

just downloaded RSD Lite w/ patch
found a somewhat recent post 1/19/09
w/ a monster alltel firmware file..... 110 MB download RAR

Will that correct it?

did you use motorola software update

and you can try a flash but the problem may be with alltels wap settings

I used the s/w from the motorola website.

Its flashing now using the monster firmware :crossesfingers:

I was a verizon tech back in the day so im familiar w/ firmware upgrades.

q2-bp_C_06.0c.16p is the current s/w on it now after the flash
it did flash but i may have grabbed the wrong file (bc theres 3 to choose from)

i just realized the monster is not the upgrade it resets it back to oem. I think i have the upgrade file also.

If there is an easier fix to be able to send MMS im all ears.

like i said you may have to check alltels wap settings because they can sometimes screw up picture messages

what are wap settings ?

Phone settings or i have to call CS

plus i dont have a data plan, i told the CS that i plan on using it as a normal phone w/ txt and pic txt
But not having the ability to send pic messages is a know problem for Sprint and Alltel for the Q

Ya it cause your not paying for internet(same thing for me on sprint) every time i recieve a pic message it goes int to sprints powervision and since i didnt pay for it it stops and wont allow me to view my pic message on the phone

The only way to possibly get around this is to use the free wap guide in the guides section although i not sure it will be the same for the Q
