Recovering from "Critical Error DEAD" or "Software not Found" for the V3i
This guide is translated from the Russian website Motofan. It was written by KAMTOS and published by Logotoy73. English translation by Promaja.
This method has not yet been thoroughly tested at M3 so USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
However, there has been some documented success. See THIS thread.
Files Needed:
DEAD Recovery Files
(Optional) Prepatched Repair Firmware
Programs Needed:
Flash and Backup 3 (current version is 3.0.7)
SBF Recalc (Current version is 1.2.9)
Ramldr2
RSD Lite (You'll need to find it yourself, it's warez.)
P2kEasyTools 3.9 (You'll need to find it yourself, it's warez.)
As always, make sure your battery is full before proceding. Since it won't charge while it says "Critical Error DEAD," use a desktop charger or a battery from a friend, etc.
I recommend doing steps 1-5 with your own backup, but you can try the Pre-patched repair firmware listed above.
1. Split and remove RSA from your backup or compatibile MP (use Flash & Backup 3.0.7 to remove RSA and split the .shx or .sbf with SBF Recalc.)
2. Apply the following patches to CG1: "Run Phone Lte2," "Don't Crypto PDS," and "Sec ver prot reg locked."
3. Apply the following patch to CG3: "Start V3i on 08A0."
4. Replace original CG7 & CG18 with the Dual boot CG7 & CG18.
5. Recompile CG1+CG3+CG7+CG18(dual) in SHX format.
6. Write "patch_boot_0A30_V3i" to the phone using Ramldr2 (do a testpoint, start RSD Lite and make sure the phone is detected as "S blank Neptune LTE2," close RSD, and start Ramldr2. Click "Send Loader," wait a few seconds, click "Write BOOT," and select the file "patch_boot_0A30_V3i.smg."
7. Reflash the phone with the MP prepared in steps 1-5 or the pre-patched repair firmware (use P2kEasyTools 3.9) and write "PDS_image" to the phone using Ramldr2. The process is the same as writing the patch boot, but now press "Write PDS" and select the file "PDS_image." If you have a PDS backup from your phone, write it to your phone.
8. Upload "Boot_08A0" the same way you loaded "patch_boot_0A30."
9. Start phone and be happy (translation: I hope that it will start.)
There is only one bad side of boot 08A0+dualboot_V3i: You can't flash CG1 with the standard V3i loaders. If the phone works, you can try to reflash it with a stock MP. If that fails, flash back the patched MP.
