i ran the superoneclick app your mentioned. For some reason, the phone did not root and even said FAILED at the end. it kept repeating certain steps such as the "daemon not running" part.
Superuser was installed on my phone however, but whenever i go to update it, there is an error.
"An error occurred and su was not updated. a zip file (su-2.3.1-bin.signed.zip has been placed on your sd card, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary."
I tried factory resetting the phone and su is still there. on top of that, the zip file on the sd card was not readable on my computer.
I have tried unrooting using the program, and it says i have no root.
I did the whole USB debugging on/off cycling posted on the first page of xda as well.
I have tried rooting the phone again now and this happens (sorry, i know you're probably fed up with helping me by now):
Killing ADB Server...
OK
Starting ADB Server...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
OK
Waiting for device...
OK
Pushing rageagainstthecage...

chmod rageagainstthecage...

Running rageagainstthecage...

it basically gets to a certain point, and keeps repeating the steps to no end.
i have no idea where to go or what to do.
any help?
thanks.

Oh, bummer, sorry about the bumsteer. It seemed to me to be the perfect one click rooting solution, it worked well on my Samsung Galaxy S, and I could see from its logs that it was doing the identical things to this universal rooting thread here, but I guess that something isn't quite working on the copying of the su binary and superuser.apk to the phone, I will have a fiddle perhaps this weekend when I "stockise" my DEXT to see where it falls over and why.
Regards
alright, thanks for your help.
I wouldn't post a problem, if i knew i could find the answer somewhere. i usually do research first, but this time i came up empty handed.
Every option i tried t no avail, and they all haven't solved my problem.
I'm really at a dead end here...
if it helps, i think the su binary and superuser.apk are on my phone but didn't install properly. When i looked at the memory card on my computer, those files were there, along with the zip file i mentioned. the app is in my app tray as well.

Reason: more information
I'm trying to install the roms, but every time I do a backup with the image J_r0dd-Cli-V1.7.5.1 or v1.7.6-FINAL it starts with the date 1970, when I enter it with a rom is the date of 1969 and did not let me change. Anyone have a clue?
For those that have been trying this method without success you might try replacing the Superuser.apk that comes included in the Moto_MSM_Root archive with the latest version (2.3.6.1). I managed to root my phone by doing that after trying like 15 times without success. Not sure if this is what actually helped me getting a successful root on my phone but I think is worth a try.
Good luck and many thanks to Skrilax_CZ for posting this guide.
PS. I was able to root the 2.1.5 leaked rom with this method.
Update: I forgot to mention that I didn't use the terminal emulator but instead I ran all the command scripts from the MS Windows terminal using ADB.

To Root 2.1.5 you have to have the updated version of SuperUser.apk and if you don't have it the Market should... Then copy the .apk file with Astro or some other backup program. Place the new version of SuperUser into the folder from the "How To Root" and everything should work again! Oh, if your stuck with the old SuperUser, you will need to reinstall the firmware using RSD Lite! Just reinstall 2.1.5 over 2.1.5(Firmwares) and SuperUser will not be there!!! Hope this worked for you?
Help I don't get any superuser permissions at all. Furthermore when i try to execute it via here.
c:\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
$ su
su
bionic/linker/linker.c:1581| ERROR: 666 could not load 'libbinder.so'
bionic/linker/linker.c:1641| ERROR: failed to link su
bionic/linker/linker.c:1741| ERROR: CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE 'su'
$
I got this.. help
Is the only way unrooting? I used oneclickroot1.51 (it always failed) and got the superuser before i tried rerooting again with this method. I checked and it's rooted.
After the last step "/data/local/tmp/install-root.sh" i got this
# it's correct right on the phone?

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
Getting weird output when i push the superuser apk. i also get the not found error when i type cd /data/local/tmp. can anyone provide a video on how to root the dext? Or at least provide screen shots of what i am supposed to see. Thanks.
I copy and paste everything in the instruction(That needs to be copied) right into CMD(Make sure the folder names are the same and you have the files in those folders). Using ADB shouldn't be that hard when your copying and pasting(Remember in CMD/ADB you have to right click and then paste, not CTRL+V(Windows Xp Pro for me)). I confirm this working with my phone(CliqMB200) and the firmwares 1.5 and 2.1.5(2.1-update1) Officials. After getting Root on 2.1.5 I then installed Live Wall Paper(The patch) and Nexus Revamped Pro is the best one... I suggest it highly!@@!
