How to flash the firmware:
A) Download USB Drivers for your OS from the download section.
B) Google and download the RSD Lite, version at least 4.5.7.
C) Connect your phone to your PC, open up RSD Lite, select the shx / sbf you want to flash and hit flash (the phone should turn to bootloader mode on its own).
D) Wait until it flashes.
Note: If your phone can boot up to the blue bootloader, you can still flash it with RSD Lite (in case your recovery is screwed too).
Note: You cannot downgrade from firmware with greater secure version to one with lower secure version. Flashing a SBF sets the required secure version for future flashes to it's own secure version (if the flash suceeds)Last edited by Skrilax_CZ; 11-14-2010 at 10:43 AM.

Great job with the firmware. Two questions:
1. What is the difference between the firmware that is posted for the backflip and the one that is currently present on the backflip?
2. Is there a guide on how to flash the backflip?
Thanks

Google and download RSD Lite to flash. The firmware is the one which is on the phones with version 0.12.1199 and branded by AT&T.

Wasn't this the final piece needed for rooting? I hope this means we are getting closer. I'm going to download this for the purpose of restoring the phone if it gets messed up.

It means that the function they used to root the device (on the Motus) doesn't exist or doens't work in the same way (it does on the Motus).

Simply said, the Cliq ramdld exploit can be used on Motus, making it rootable (see the testflash thread), while it has been fixed on the Backflip, so not rootable that way.

with an unlocked firmware will that remove any of the lockdown that att has on this device? or is it like a carrier unlock?
i understand it will not grant root, but what does it do that the download from moto's OS site doesnt.
- 03-28-2010, 06:12 PM #10
That means carrier lock. Unlocked means that it will not lock your phone (to AT&T).

Has anyone been able to extract the yaffs2 images from this? The usual (de)packer barfs on the CG2.

Don't use SBF Recalc to split the sbf. (Use RSD Lite trick, then the (de)packer works well)
