    Backflip ,OPTUS, 2.1

    Hi All,

Just to confirm I have rooted my Backflip and have successfully installed:

    1.[RECOVERY] j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.6.1 FINAL (11.6.10)

    2. [ROM] Preclair v1.0.3 (based on Moto's official) [11.15.10]

Before which I have updated the radio to
    3.signed-IT_radio.zip

All is working fine Bluetooth, 3G, and usual programs no issues found ATM.

I am with TPG they use Optus as their network no issues with calls or data, just snappier phone.

Thanks j_r0dd and heaps of other ppl for instruction.

PS I have to manually select the network provider and manually assign Access Point for 3G to kick in.

Oh, I just set mine to automatically search, and it's cool. When I select, it doesn't work out.

    Troubleshooting OPtus/Backflip

Loving the the new build on the Optus network, much snappier and 3G seems to behave better, heaps more battery life and the whole phone operates the way that is expected with the android, thanks j_R0dd

I did recovery->ITRadio->Preclair 1.6 on my optus backflip.
At the point where the guide says it goes from motorola logo to android logo, it stays at motorola logo forever and i can't do anything.
I was able to recover back to my backup. Does my phone need to be "unlocked" it is locked to optus.

No, but it sounds like you didn't do a full wipe before flashing the Preclair ROM.

I did a full wipe including partition SD, before Preclair. According to [ROM] Preclair v1.6 jit/netfilter/swap/ext3/ext4/tun [2.12.11] to the letter.
I had to wipe before restoring also or it hung restoring, so I think I'm doing that bit right.
In the above thread it mentions being on 13.37 before starting but as far as I know I can't go to 13.37 official because it is not available in my region AUS?
Thanks for all the help, by the way. I'm just barely following these procedures.

You are correct. 13.37 was an ATT for US Backflip customers. Not sure why you are getting a boot loop then. You installed the Italian radio?

Sure did, I'm confused as well with plenty of people reporting success with this method. I'm going to try again and leave it over night. I'll redo ITRadio as well to be sure.
Quick question though... it should be WIPE then ITRadio then PRECLAIR or ITRADIO then WIPE then PRECLAIR?

EDIT: Ok I think I did the wipe after radio first time, worked this time. This time it required 2 reboots, one to do radio then to do preclair. Hope that is helpful to anyone else trying this.

    Thanks jmgib!

Hi I have a AUS Optus Backflip I did a Wipe then ITRADIO and then WIPE and Preclair.
    All worked OK
If you have upgraded to ITRADIO you cannot boot to original Optus OS you must push on and do Preclair update via j_r0dd recovery image. Otherwise phone will be in a boot loop. Thank GOD for j_r0dd recovery image I must say...

Original optus radio and firmware can be easily reinstalled
with rsdlite and the appropriate firmware file if you mess up .

I had to do it once... Don't stress.

I've been messing with roms the last couple of days with no issues. But on my last flash i tried to flash to the us stock 2.1 and got an error so i was restoring back to CM6 and it was rebooting and now its sitting with black screen no response other than haptic feedback for the three main buttons. Restarts bring it back to this, cannot even get to Jrodd recovery.
    Any ideas peoples?

    remove battery
Hold down j + D keys on keyboard while inserting battery
    blue screen will appear
use rsdlite to install orignal firmware

Note: I could only get rsdlite working in win95......
